It’s all about the details, and who doesn’t love calligraphy? Meet Laura Lavender, the typographic artist behind Lavender Calligraphy on Etsy. There were plenty of beautiful items in her shop, but we really loved the Escort Cards and the Envelope Address Calligraphy because we know those small details make a huge first impression. So stunning!

We couldn’t resist a post with a little green in it this week… And who could resist these beautiful handmade hair clips by Kate’s Cottage Shop. They’re created from pure dupioni silk and available in other colors as well. What a beautiful detail for an elegant affair!

With today being Mardi Gras, we couldn’t help but search out some inspirational wedding photographs to get in the celebratory mood! We stumbled across these on Ruffled, a beautiful blog full of ideas and inspiration. Photography by Nikki Moore Photography. Wouldn’t a wedding like this look lovely in our Atrium and Mezzanine?
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so therefore a video, well, let’s just say that the one below says a whole lot. It’s been exquisitely created by Fran Gagnon Films, our Featured Preferred Vendor this week! When one of our vendors has a family member getting married and they choose our venue when we know they’ve worked with them all, it’s an honor. We loved sharing in Fran’s daughter’s special day and we are beyond words at the beautiful video they made to capture the memories. Please read about it in their own words, and then watch the video and see for yourself.
When it came time for my Daughter to plan her wedding, we knew exactly where to look to make her dream day come true. Being in the wedding business for many years, I’ve seen pretty much every wedding venue in the area. With this in mind, I have long been a fan of the unique architectural beauty and historical significance of the Gershon Fox Building. It has a charm all its own and My Daughter and her fiance fell in love with its Art Deco style and Hollywood feel. Add to that the superlative service and outstanding cuisine from the Marquee Events staff and the choice became a no brainer.
Thanks to Darren and his staff for helping to make everything perfect. If anyone is looking for a venue with an elegant urban vibe – look no further.
Here is a Feature Film from my daughter’s wedding day produced by our wonderful staff at Fran Gagnon Films. Editing was accomplished with assistance from our associate and good friend, Kevin Huss from Kevin Lee Studios.
We enjoyed reading this article by the Hartford Courant on the history of downtown shopping in Hartford. They spoke so lovingly of G. Fox & Co. and all of the nostalgia associated with it. And the slideshow pictures were fantastic! We highly recommend it!
Did you know that Marquee Events is on Pinterest? We’re having so much fun exploring the site and putting together our boards. There’s so much inspiration to be found out there — I wonder how long until we need a Pintervention? Follow our boards here!
